My experience as a Project Administrator with Nigerian Women in UK was truly rewarding. I had the opportunity to handle administrative tasks, help plan programs, and contribute to data management, all of which gave me room to learn and grow. The leader’s support and encouragement made the journey even more fulfilling. I am grateful to have been part of a community that is so passionate about supporting and uplifting women.

A Journey of Growth
Working alongside the incredible team at Nigerian Women in UK as a Project Administrator was more than just a role – it was a journey of growth and discovery for me. From managing administrative tasks to contributing to program planning and data management, every day presented a new challenge and opportunity to learn. But what truly made this experience stand out was the team’s unwavering passion and dedication. Seeing the impact of our collective efforts on the community was incredibly fulfilling. Our leader’s guidance and support played a huge role in my development, and I feel blessed to have been part of a community that genuinely cares about empowering women.

I had opportunity to volunteer as Project Adminstration with NWIU. This volunteering role has helped strengthen my skills in organisation, communication, and teamwork while contributing to the mission of NWIU. I learnt from the experience of others and it helped boost my confidence. NWIU volunteering is a great place to learn and grow.

In 2024, I was living in Kent, and while it had its comforts, the cost of living gradually became overwhelming. Rent, bills, and everyday expenses kept rising, and I reached a point where I knew I needed a change. I started thinking seriously about moving to a more affordable area in the UK somewhere I could breathe a little easier and rebuild with less pressure.
That decision, however, came with its own challenges. Moving isn’t just about packing boxes; it’s about finding work, securing accommodation, and stepping into the unknown without a guaranteed support system. At that time, I turned to this amazing community of Nigerian women in UK that I had joined. I didn’t expect just how much this space would change my experience.
When I shared my situation in the telegram group. people responded with kindness and practical support almost immediately. One particular sister(sister Bukola) stood out in a way I will never forget she generously allowed me to use her address, which made it much easier for me to apply for jobs in the new area. That single act removed a huge barrier and gave me a real chance to move forward.
Beyond that, other women in the group also stepped in to help. Some offered to go and view accommodation on my behalf, giving honest feedback and reassurance about places I was considering renting. Knowing that I had people I could trust checking things for me made the process far less stressful and risky.
What could have been a difficult and lonely transition turned into something much smoother and more hopeful because of this community. The support I got reminded me that even in unfamiliar situations, you don’t have to navigate everything alone.
Looking back, my move wasn’t just about leaving Kent for a cheaper area it was about experiencing the power of genuine community. The kindness, generosity, and willingness of those women to show up for someone they didn’t even know deeply made all the difference. It’s something I carry with me, and it’s shaped how I think about supporting others too.

NWIU has definitely impacted me positively in so many ways. It gives me a reputable institution to volunteer and give back to my community. It has fostered many friendships with endearing ladies that I probably would never have met.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation.
In October, I moved out of my apartment, but my letting agent refused to release my deposit. Feeling distressed and unsure of what to do, I turned to this community for support.
Some kind and understanding ladies from this group went above and beyond to help me. They patiently explained the steps I needed to take, encouraged me to appeal, and provided detailed advice on what to include as evidence and what to avoid. Their reassurance, drawn from their own similar experience, gave me hope and clarity during a difficult time.
Today, I am thrilled to share that I received an email confirming that my full deposit will be returned to me. I am incredibly grateful to everyone for their invaluable guidance and support.
This group is truly a home.

Being part of this group has made my journey in the UK feel less stressful. I have received so much support, encouragement, and useful information here.
Through this group, I even got a work opportunity from one of our members while I was still a student.
I’m truly grateful for this community.
BLESSING
I have been on many many Nigerian groups and I can honestly say this is the BEST, the value added is unparalleled, and that’s the difference between when people are passionate about lifting and helping others genuinely, and just doing stuff for the sake of doing it, those ones tend to fizzle out eventually, one thing they say in product management is find the customers pain points and see how you can solve it, and this product called NWIU is meeting needs trust me. The Admins on this group are heaven sent, and what they do should NEVER be taken for granted, if I were to monetize the impact the value I’ve gained from this group has had on my life it would run into thousands, things we ought to pay for we are getting for little or free, and yet most of us are not taking advantage of it, I know people are busy, I know most are working and attending to family or other stuff, but one thing we need to know is this, you can join these meetings and mute yourself and just listen, the VALUE, yes I said it again you will gain is outstanding, finding people who are willing to give their time, money, effort, advice for free is not something we see alot of these days, especially in the UK finding people who have the genuine passion to rise and take others along with them is a rarity.

A very big thank you to the executives of this community. I was new in the county at the time and they came through with lots of support after my child was accused of touching.
TitiLola
Thanks for being my strong support system. I still can’t believe the number of hours and effort put in to support me for free. I appreciate all your help with my child being bullied and harassed.

Thank you all for standing by me during this challenging time and for your exceptional service. God bless you all. Amen.

It is 2 years this month since I moved to Luton. I had relocated to the UK just four months earlier after spending heavily to move from Nigeria as a family of four. After barely two months of working, I had to move again, from Wakefield to Luton, in search of a job with sponsorship. I secured a role with a five-year sponsorship, but paying the Immigration Health Surcharge for 5years upfront at that time was no joke. I found a place in Luton, but it was barely liveable. Around that time, I attended an NWIUK meeting online and met Cynthia. I reached out to her afterwards, and she showed me incredible support, adding me to the WhatsApp group and helping to settle in. I was grateful, though a little bit uncomfortable, having lived better back home in Nigeria. Yet, she guided me through that season like a sister.
I arrived in Luton with my children while my husband returned to Bradford for his studies. The first night was extremely difficult, no electricity, no heating, the cold was unbearable and our bags had not arrived as we had arranged to have them transported using a moving van. Tired and frustrated, my children and I went out briefly to eat, and I fought back tears as I thought about my situation.
By 10 p.m., our bags finally arrived and we were able to get some warmth using the duvets. The next day was better, furniture began to arrive, electricity was sorted, and hope returned.
Then Favour visited me. Cynthia had spoken to her about me and without hesitation, she came to check up on me. She came with fruits, guidance, and words of encouragement. Gradually, I settled in. Both women continued to check on me like sisters, despite knowing nothing about me.
From them, I learnt the power of kindness. I may not have said it enough before, but today I say thank you to both. I will never forget what you did❤️

Where do I even start from?
When the care home I was in wanted to scam me, I brought my woes to the group, with the help of Dr. Temi, I got not just encouragement to go through the Post graduate route but words that were like balm to my wounded soul.
It was through this group that I connected with Mercy who taught us how to do applications free of charge.
When I got my NHs job and was waiting for 6 months to elapse before asking for sponsorship, it was a sister here that posted to not wait but to go ahead and ask.
Something I was begging for, for 16 months , I got in 4 days, I kid you not.
I didn’t even have to say one word.
It was like a dream.
Since then, anytime I am at a crossroads, I reach out to Sis Tobore and all my questions get answers.
I am grateful to all the amazing sisters this group has given me, thank you all so much.

I want to appreciate and also highlight the power and reach of this group.
A sister, Stephanie helped me when I was about to lose my mind, she didn’t know this but I was on the verge of breaking down, I had to go to the hospital, I live in Huddersfield and my specialist hospital is in London, I had pushed back the appointment 3 times already and couldn’t push it anymore, somehow I have developed anxiety of travelling due to brain fog, I would normally take my daughter but the train fare was nearly £100 for me alone and that is with my railcard, so I couldn’t take her with me, so that day due to trains being late I missed a connecting train, Stephanie was at the train station and she saw me with my walking stick going from one platform to another, she asked me where I was going and I told her, she looked it up and told me where to stay, what time the next train would be.
she didn’t have to speak to me, but she did and she went out of her way to make sure I was ok,she had her son with her but she took her time to help me, she didn’t know how much she helped me because I was really struggling and in pain, something said to ask her if she was in this group and she said yes, immediately we connected on Facebook and WhatsApp and it has been bliss.
This group is like my family with amazing sisters and overflowing love.

Sometime last year, I found myself emotionally drained and almost slipping into depression because of a situation with my former employer.
An NHS reference request was sent to him unexpectedly, as I hadn’t informed him beforehand to expect it. Unfortunately, he reacted negatively and laid me off that same day. It was one of the most heartbreaking and stressful moments of my life.
In my confusion and pain, I shared my concerns in this community, and the encouragement, advice, guidance, recommendations and support I received truly strengthened me and gave me direction.
I made several calls and noticed things becoming quiet and uncertain. Eventually, when I explained the situation, I was informed that the matter would be discussed internally. During those difficult weeks, my sisters from this community were checking in, sending recommendations and prayers tears became prayers.
Then God stepped in!
A few weeks later, I received an unconditional offer from the NHS, and in due time, they also sponsored me. To crown it all, my former employer eventually paid me every outstanding entitlement without any struggle or confrontation.
I am deeply grateful to everyone in this community who encouraged and supported me during that season.
May God bless you all abundantly and meet each of you at the point of your needs. Amen 🙏

My friend posted about my immigration case in the group and a sister from this group reached out and told me she has had a similar case, she consoled me, gave me her immigration lawyers contact and to the glory of God a case of over 1-year plus with months of no right to work was closed without going to court.
I am forever grateful for this community.

I don’t even know where to start from, but my heart is so full.
When I migrated to the UK in December 2023, I came in with almost nothing, about £10 or £20 in my pocket. We hadn’t been paid, I was confused, scared, and honestly didn’t know how I was going to survive. I reached out to this community, not knowing what to expect and what I received was love in its purest form.
One sister ordered food for me. Another came to my accommodation with pots, plates, cooking utensils, one of those pots, I am still using till today, and every time I use it, I pour out blessings to her.
Another sister brought Indomie, rice, oil, and so many foodstuffs. One sister sent me a voucher. Another sister here ordered Burger for me (it was my first time tasting a burger). I didn’t have to buy food for two to three months. I still have pictures of everything because I never want to forget that moment of grace.
Once in a while I go to these sisters Whatsapp to say hello to them and Say thank you again.
This community didn’t just help me survive, it carried me.
Special, heartfelt thank you to Sis Tobore the founder. You created more than a community, you created a safe place.
Since I arrived in the UK, I have stayed out of trouble simply because I had someone to guide me. From setting up direct debits, to understanding bills, to taking meter readings the very day I moved into my flat, those small instructions saved me from being financially drained. When the electricity company tried to overcharge me, I had proof because of that advice. Without it, I honestly don’t know where I would be today.
Thank you to every admin, every safeguarding team member, every silent helper, and every sister who showed up for me. Thank you for the love, the advice, the check-ins, and the sacrifices people don’t see.
This community changed my life, and I will never forget it.

I want to also use this medium to share the feedback I received from the lovely women in group when I posted about my health challenges. The positive responses, support and prayers made me emotional. I actually cried to know that I am not alone and there are people who have gone through what I am going through. To know that there are people who could relate and whose advise went a long way. In all, with the support of my consultant, I will be going for a surgery by the end of the month. I pray to be okay at the end of it all. God bless you and the women in the group.
