Empowering Nigerian Women Across the United Kingdom

Who We Are

Nigerian Women in the UK (NWIU) is a community-led initiative created to support Nigerian women and migrant women living in the UK.

Moving to a new country can be challenging. Many women face isolation, lack of information, career barriers, and cultural adjustment. NWIU was founded to provide a safe and supportive space where women can connect, learn from one another, and build meaningful relationships. Through our community, women gain access to shared knowledge, opportunities, mentorship, wellbeing support, and social connection.

Our mission is to help Nigerian women not only settle in the UK but thrive.

Community Engagement & Outreach

Engaging members through workshops, events, and groups to foster a sense of belonging.

Education & Skill Development

Providing career guidance, mentorship, and professional workshops to help women increase their employability.

Supporting mental and physical health through webinars, group sessions and wellness initiatives

We build confidence and leadership through training resources aimed at promoting independence.

Offering financial literacy training, entrepreneurial support, and microfinance opportunities.

Wellness & Lifestyle Community

NWIU promotes physical and mental wellbeing through a supportive wellness community.

Members participate in activities such as:

• Intermittent fasting support groups

• Walking and running meetups

• Wellness challenges

• Healthy lifestyle discussions

These initiatives encourage women to prioritise their health and wellbeing while supporting one another.

Mentorship & Personal Development

Our mentorship initiatives support women in developing confidence, leadership skills, and personal growth.

Through peer mentorship, leadership roles, and community engagement, members build skills that benefit both their personal and professional lives.

Navigate UK Academy

Navigate UK Academy provides practical guidance for women adjusting to life in the UK.

Topics include:

• Job market navigation

• Career advice

• Housing guidance

• Legal awareness

• Understanding UK systems and opportunities

This programme helps women feel more confident navigating life in a new country.

Local Communities Across the UK

NWIU has local community groups across different regions of the UK.

These groups are led by Local Community Representatives (LCRs) who organise:

• Local meetups

• Networking events

• Social gatherings

• Support discussions

Local communities help members move from online connection to real-life friendship and support.

NWIU organises a wide range of events designed to bring women together and strengthen community bonds.
